CAMP GROUND ZERO 2008 WOW, WHAT A WEEK! This week is designed for our youth who have completed grades Sixth (6th) thru Eighth (8th). Camp Ground Zero and Camp Life were both held at Grand Oaks on August 4th thru August 8th. I was the director of both camps. I ran them on different schedules. The only time they were together was for meals and chapel. During Chapel time we had a band that played Praise and Worship music. It was a little loud at times but the teenagers loved it. We had Bible classes for both groups with great teachers. We also had missions for both groups and the junior high also had crafts. And of course, both groups got in lots of swimming. We had a movie on Tuesday night for high school and on Wednesday night for the junior high. We’ve been rained out of having a bon fire for the past two years but this year there was no rain so on Thursday night we were able to have the bon fire service. On Thursday we had water fights during recreation, the youth against the adults. One water fight was in the morning and the other in the afternoon. A few of us got wet in both fights but it was fun and the kids enjoyed trying to drown us with buckets of water and water balloons. There were 142 teenagers, 31 adults, 22 mission friends, 11 staff, and 13 kitchen workers, in all a very large camp. And I’ve saved the best part for last. We had 12 salvations 18 rededications, 2 special service, and 10 for special prayer. Praise the Lord!!! Jane Lacy Dates for 2009 are August 3-7, 2009. We start on Monday Morning at 10:00 AM and don't leave until Friday Morning at 10:00 AM! All this for $80 per camper and that includes a T-Shirt and a Snack Shack Ticket.
